No1 issue, No1 ratings: bit.ly/ZIN0Rd #GunControlNow #CNN
— Piers Morgan (@piersmorgan) January 10, 2013
So I said to myself, “that can’t
be right. He’s beating Fox?”
Well, no, he is excited about
this story over at Mediaite:
Tuesday Ratings: Piers Morgan Beats All Of CNN In Total Viewers And
Demo
On Tuesday night,
Piers Morgan beat the rest of his CNN colleagues in both total viewership and
the key 25-54 demo.
Racking up 225k demo
viewers, Morgan beat out his next-highest-rated colleague in Anderson Cooper,
who scored 209k demo viewers.
And in total
viewership, Morgan garnered 797k viewers, beating out Cooper, who had 659k
total.
But at the same time, this isn’t
really much of winning.
For instance, in the 25-54
demographic, he is still being beaten by Hannity (342k). Indeed his 225k was less even than Rachel
Maddow’s 304k. In fact every single Fox
News Show scored higher than his, including The5 (a.k.a. “Red Eye for
Non-Insomniacs”) with 261k. This is at 5
p.m., by the way, when most people are still at work. It gets worse ratings than Baier (312k), Shep
(348k), O'Reilly’s 8 pm and 11 pm slots (393k and 245k, respectively). The only one he comes close to is Greta at
245k. And for that matter, he is also
beaten by Chris Matthews in his 5pm slot (247k). Which suggests that his job is only secure as
long as Brett Baier, Sheppard Smith, Bill O’Reilly (twice), Sean Hannity, Greta
Van Susteren, Chris Matthews and Rachel Maddow doesn’t want it.
Meanwhile it gets uglier with
total viewers. Of course he continues to
be trounced by all of Fox. But now he is
being trounced by almost all of MSNBC, too.
His 797k total viewers, is beaten by Matthews at 5 and 7 pm (942k and
815k respectively), “Fast Eddie” Schultz at 8pm (854k), Maddow (983k) and O’Donnell
(866k). The only people he beats over
there is Sharpton (703k) and Schultz’s 11 pm rerun (462k). So basically if his employers don’t worry so
much about that key demographic (fat chance), Fast Eddie could take his job,
too.
And overall, Fox is still the
number one network, MSNBC is number two (at least that night) and CNN is number
three. It is only beating Headline News,
and really given what HN has to work with, they are actually doing pretty
good. So congratulations, Morgan on your
job security and being number one, on a number three network! Which led me to this sarcastic modified tweet (MT):
That'd be #1 in the sense that u're still trailing Hannity MT @piersmorgan: No1 issue, No1 ratings: bit.ly/ZIN0Rd #GunControlNow

My wife and I have lost our jobs
due to the harassment of convicted terrorist Brett Kimberlin, including an
attempt to get us killed and to frame me for a crime carrying a sentence of up
to ten years. I know that claim sounds
fantastic, but if you read starting here, you will see absolute proof of these
claims using documentary and video evidence.
If you would like to help in the fight to hold Mr. Kimberlin
accountable, please hit the Blogger’s Defense Team button on the right. And thank you.

Disclaimer:
I have accused some people, particularly
Brett Kimberlin, of reprehensible
conduct. In some cases, the conduct is even criminal. In all cases, the only justice I want is through the appropriate legal process—such
as the criminal justice system. I do not
want to see vigilante violence against any person or any threat of such
violence. This kind of conduct is
not only morally wrong, but it is counter-productive.
In the particular case of Brett
Kimberlin, I do not want you to even contact him. Do not call him. Do not write him a letter. Do not write him an email. Do not text-message him. Do not engage in any kind of directed
communication. I say this in part
because under Maryland law, that can quickly become harassment and I don’t want
that to happen to him.
And for that matter, don’t go on
his property. Don’t sneak around and try
to photograph him. Frankly try not to
even be within his field of vision. Your
behavior could quickly cross the line into harassment in that way too (not to
mention trespass and other concerns).
And do not contact his
organizations, either. And most of all, leave his family alone.
The only exception to all that is
that if you are reporting on this, there is of course nothing wrong with
contacting him for things like his official response to any stories you might
report. And even then if he tells you to
stop contacting him, obey that request. That
this is a key element in making out a harassment claim under Maryland law—that
a person asks you to stop and you refuse.
And let me say something
else. In my heart of hearts, I don’t
believe that any person supporting me has done any of the above. But if any of you have, stop it, and if you
haven’t don’t start.
